Students give their vote to chilling Gothic Vampire Tale |

OCR Transcript:
PUPILS from Merchant Taylors' boys and girls schools and St Mary's College joined their counterparts at Sacred Heart recently to award the Carnegie Medal to their favourite book.
Now in its 70th year, the medal is awarded annually to the author of an outstanding children's book, from a shortlist
decided by judges.
Groups of pupils from the four schools met over a buffet lunch to discuss the six shortlisted books - which they had read over the previous few weeks and to cast their votes on the winner.
Following some lively and interesting debates, they voted for Marcus Sedgwick's My Sword hand is Singing, a bone-chffling gothic tale set in the 17th century and inspired by the original vampire folklore of Eastern Europe.
They then opened an envelope to reveal the actual winner of the medal, as decided by the judges, which was revealed as Just in Case, by Meg Rosoff.
