Checkmate! Six pupils from St. Mary's College Preparatory School, The Mount, are chess champions.
In March, the team consisting of Christian Anderson, Ian Downe, Anthony Mercer, Paul Calierson, Paul Killoran and Jas Sinnott (not pictured) - won the Bootle and District Primary School Chess Tournament and since then the have also won the Jack Lord Cup and the Crosby League.
Christian, who is one of four members of the team who leave The Mount this year, also won The Mount Cup.
