THE CAST of a school's production of Billy Liar have not stuck exactly to the true version of the original book. But their version of the play of the same name has won plaudits from packed audiences. Sixth-formers from the drama society at Crosby St. Mary's College staged it for three nights in the school hall. The cast of eight boys and girls won huge praise from parents, friends and fellow pupils.
Billy Liar wows the audience
The original book, by Keith Waterhouse, contains a seduction scene and some fairly-strong language. But teacher Peter McColgan, who directed the school production, said: "The version we staged as not as frank as the novel."
Pictured, in a scene from the play. Billy, played by David Maxwell, astounds the rest of the cast with his tall tales.
