Lower sixth formers from St. Mary's College and Merchant Taylors' Girls' School joined forces last week to get to grips with the Shakespearian tragedy "Macbeth"
The play was well supported on each of its four performances in St. Mary's dining room.
Work on selecting a play began as long ago as October of last year. Then a selection committee of pupils from both schools decided on Macbeth from a list of plays submitted by English teacher Peter McColgan.
Rehearsals were started at the beginning of the year and it must have been heartening for the cast to get such an encouraging response for their hard work from the large audience.
The major roles of Macbeth and spouse Lady Macbeth were played by two actors each appearing on alternate nights. Macbeth by Paul Maddox and Stephen Gribbin, Lady Macbeth by Nikki McCoy and Christine Drabble.
